Orchesis In the Community

Orchesis is thrilled to collaborate with vibrant community groups—both within the arts and beyond—to share our passion for dance far and wide. If you're interested in having Orchesis perform at your regional event or collaborate with your organization, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact our Artistic Directors, Stephanie Lilley and Andrea Fitzgerald, for more details.

Edmonton Elks Performance

Orchesis Dancers performed at an Edmonton Elks game in June 2024 in front of thousands of fans.  All 13 dancers represented ODS with energy, passion, poise and fierceness! This was an incredible opportunity to bring a different kind of athleticism to the football field. We will have another opportunity to perform in the fall of 2025. Place holder text

Crescendo

Orchesis Dancers graced stages in Edmonton and Calgary as part of Crescendo, a review style show to build awareness around mental health and to raise money for the Stollery Children's Hospital. What an honour to be able to serve our community through our dancing!Place holder text

AYA Project

We were thrilled to collaborate with Eric Awuah, former Treasurer of the Orchesis Dance Performance Group, and his talented team of musicians on the Aya Project – Ageing in Dance. Generously supported by a $25,000 grant from the Edmonton Arts Council, this inspiring initiative ran from August through November. During that time, Eric and his team visited three seniors' residences, leading weekly workshops that explored the music and dance traditions of Ghana. The project concluded with public performances showcasing the work created with participants at each location. We wish them continued success in their future endeavors!

CRIPSiE

CRIPSiE (The Collaborative Radically Integrated Performers Society in Edmonton) includes artists who experience disability and their allies. They challenge dominant stories of disability and other forms of oppression through high-quality crip and mad performance art, video art, as well as public education and outreach programs. ODS and Cripsie have created a beautiful synergy which has resulted in performance opportunities and professional development for both companies. We are already planning future projects together and are grateful to CRIPSiE for their insightful and impactful work.
