​MOTIF MOVES 2026

Motif Moves 2026 will be presented at Roxy Theatre on January 30 & 31 @ 7:00pm and February 1 @ 2:00pm!
 
To celebrate Orchesis Dance Society’s growth and adaptability, this year’s show follows the theme of Chrysalis: a period of growth, transformation and development before emerging into something new. Artistic Directors, Andi Fitzgerald and Steph Lilley, have curated works around this theme.

​WEST AFRICAN WORKSHOPS

This year, Orchesis Dance Society is the recipient of an EAC Grant to bring together different communities to learn about West African dance, music and culture. Our first public workshop was held on Saturday, October 25th, led by Eric Awuah (AYA Collective). Eric taught a chant for us to sing, led us through floor work and travelling movements, while learning about the origins of specific gestures and body movements inspired by the everyday work and activities of Ghanaian people, such has hauling in fishing nets and cutting crops. 

​The next West African Dance Foundations workshop was held on Saturday, November 15. Eric and “Papa” shared the time to provide different perspectives from Ghana and Guinea. 

We were thrilled to be able to offer these workshops free of charge to our community!
