2025 Artistic Directors
Andrea FitzgeraldAndrea is a dancer and choreographer based in Treaty 6 territory in Amiskwacîwâskahikan. She has training in various dance styles, including jazz, tap, ballet, modern, hip-hop, and musical theatre. Andrea continues to train and study dance by attending various dance classes, conferences, and professional development opportunities. Andrea has attended conferences and classes throughout Canada, as well as in Las Vegas and New York. She has served as an adjudicator for the Kalyna Festival.
Andrea graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Fine Arts, where she specialized in dance. Andrea has taught dance classes for the City of Edmonton, various dance studios throughout Edmonton and Orchesis. She is currently a jazz instructor with Campus and Community Recreation at the University of Alberta. She has experience choreographing for various shows, events, and a local music artist. Andrea has been an Orchesis member for over a decade and has held various positions on the board, including teaching assistant, social convenor, vice chair, and chair. She has also served various roles on the Orchesis Dance Society board and is currently a member at large with ODS, as well as Co-Artistic Director. Andrea has had the opportunity to work and perform with many brilliant choreographers throughout her time with Orchesis. Stephanie LilleyStephanie, 2017 Mayor's Award for the Arts nominee, is the Artistic Director of Viva Dance Company. Under their leadership, the company has performed over 300 times to date and is a staple in the Edmonton arts community. In addition to The Edmonton Singing Christmas Tree, Fringe Festivals across the country, galas and charity events, the company also brings dance to new markets such as hockey arenas (Edmonton Oil Kings) and fashion shows (Western Canada Fashion Week).
Stephanie has a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology (BKin) as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA). Although an experienced teacher and performer, they continue to be a student themself. Stephanie underwent bilateral hip replacement surgery in 2020 and is dancing their way back to peak health. They are working towards another master’s degree in which they are writing a thesis about their experience with hip replacement and their return to professional dance. Some of their most influential teachers include their children, Jude (9) and Gloria (7). Catch Stephanie teaching Jazz this Fall on Monday, September 29th, October 6th, and 20th. |
